Police in a drive arrested 75 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami from different parts of the district early Friday.
Mofazzal Hossain, superintendent of police, Gaibandha, said police during the overnight drive arrested the 75 leaders and activists of BNP-Jamaat on charge of carrying out sabotage.
The arrestees were also involved in blocking roads and vandalising and torching vehicles, he said.Police sources said they arrested nine activists of BNP-Jamaat from Saghata upazila, three from Fulchhari, four from Palashbari, 13 from Gobindaganj, nine from Sadullapur, 13 from Sundarganj and 18 from sadar upazila of the district. – UNB
