Detectives have arrested 79 suspected criminals from different areas of the capital.
Of them, 57 are alleged members of doping gangs (ogyan parties) while eight fake currency makers, six drug dealers and eight snatchers.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also recovered Tk 75 lakh in fake notes, 61,150 Yaba tablets and 12 looted mobile phone sets.
Briefing reporters at the DMP Media Centre in the city, DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Abdul Baten said several teams of detectives conducted drives at different parts of the capital, including Shyampur, Jurain, Gulistan, New Market, Sayedabad and Shahbagh, on Friday and arrested 57 doping gang members.
Besides, another team of DB (East division) arrested six alleged drug dealers along with 61,150 Yaba pills from Shahbagh and Jatrabari areas on the same day, he said, adding that eight suspected muggers were arrested from New Market and Jatrabari areas by the members of DB (East and West divisions).
The detectives also recovered Tk 8 lakh, one microbus, 12 mobile phone sets and three sharp weapons from the possession of the eight muggers, Baten said.
