800 illegal gas connections cut in Demra

Dhaka- Around 2,500 metres of illegal gas lines were removed under the direction of a mobile court as part of a drive by the Dhaka district administration and Titas Gas Transmission Ltd in the city’s Demra on Wednesday.
Official sources said the mobile court conducted simultaneous drives at Tamburabad-Nolchhata, Khalapara and Durgapur, all three areas under Demra police station, from 10am to till 5pm.
During the drive, some 800 illegal gas connections belonging to houses, shops and industries were cut. Besides, around 2,500 metres of illegal gas pipes along with other equipment were seized, said Executive magistrate of the mobile court Touhid Elahi.
The mobile court also ordered the authority concerned to file cases with the local police station against illegal gas users, Touhid Elahi said.
The Dhaka district administration and Titas Gas will be regularly conducting anti-illegal gas connection drives, as part of regularly monitoring the situation.
Officials of Titas Gas Dhaka Metro-2 zone, including its manager Khaled Maksud, were present during the drive. -UNB
