Dhaka – A fire broke out at ‘Saat Tola’ slum in the city’s Mohakhali area early Monday, burning down 85 shanties.
Mahmudul Haque, a warehouse inspector at the Fire Service Headquarters, said the fire broke out from a shanty of the slum adjacent to ‘Ananda Nagar Market’ around 1am.The inspector said the blaze soon engulfed the slum damaging around 85 shanties.
On information, 17 firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 3.50am, he added.
It was not still clear what caused the fire. – UNB
