Dhaka, June 2 – Islami Shasantantra Chhatra Andolan (ISCA) has threatened to besiege the Supreme Court (SC) if the statue of Greek goddess Themis which was reinstalled in front of the SC annex building is not moved within June 13.The threat was issued at a protest rally, arranged by Sylhet city and district units of ISCA at Bandarbazar in the city after Juma prayers on Friday.
ISCA leaders and activists also brought out a protest procession that ended at the Court Point after parading different city roads.
The organisation alleged that the authorities concerned cheated Muslims through reinstalling the sculpture of the Lady Justice in front of the SC annex building after removing it from the SC premises.
ISCA Sylhet district unit president M Sohel Ahmed and its general secretary Abu Taher Misbah, among others, spoke at the rally.
The court authorities reinstalled the statue of the Lady Justice, made by sculptor Mrinal Haque, in front of the Supreme Court’s annex building on May 28, two days after it was removed from the SC premises. – UNB
