Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over bodies of the two Bangladeshis who were beaten to death by a mob at Chichingpara in the state of Meghalaya of India on Tuesday.
Handing over of the bodies took place on Nakugaon border in Nalitabari upazila at 7.15pm on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Hemanta Koch, 22, son of Srikanta Koch, and Shital Koch, 24, son of Premananda Koch of Rangtia village in Jhinaigati upazila.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members and Nakugaon immigration police received the bodies from BSF and handed over those to the victim’s family members.
Earlier, on Wednesday noon, a company commander-level flag meeting was held between BSF and BGB at no man’s land adjacent to pillar no. 1107/6 in Jhinaigati upazila of the district.
Nayak Subedar Abdul Kuddus, company commander of BGB-27 battalion of Naksi camp, led the BGB team while Commander Rajmal Dokra of Kantipara camp headed the BSF side.
Abdul Kuddus confirming the news said they received the bodies of the two Bangladeshis after a flag meeting with BSF.
BGB and local sources said five Bangladeshis from Rangtia village entered the Chichingpara through Haldigram border point illegally on Tuesday noon.

Of them, three successfully crossed the border and returned home, but the two ill-fated youths were caught and beaten by the Indians severely, leaving them dead on the spot. -UNB, Sherpur
