At least 15 were injured in a clash between local activists of the ruling party Awami
League (AL) and the opposition BNP’s volunteer front Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal
in Daulatkhan upazila on Monday morning.
Witnesses said when local Swechchhasebak Dal leaders and activists were holding a
discussion meeting at the BNP office at Daulatkhan Bazar in the morning, suddenly a
group of AL men launched an attack on the office at about 10.30am.
They carried out vandalism throwing brick chips at the office.
They also beat up a photojournalist as he moved to take pictures of the incident at that
time.
At one stage, Swechchhasebak Dal activists chased the attackers, which triggered a clash
between the two groups.
A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left 15 people injured from
both groups.
Those critically injured were admitted to Daulatkhan Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-charge of Daulatkhan Police Station Mojibul Haque said after receiving
information, they rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. – UNB,
