Eight of the nine suspected Islamic militants of HUJI were sent to Jhalakati jail after
interrogation in Dhaka for four days during their remand.
A police team led by A.Z.M. Masuduzzaman, Officer in charge (OC) of Nalchity police
station reached Nalchity with those eight HUJI men on Friday day morning.
On the same day afternoon they were sent to jail through a Jhalakati court.

Earlier the Jhalakathi senior judicial magistrate court granted six-day remand on 18
August. Md. Shahidul Islam, magistrate of the court, sanctioned three-day remand in each
of the two cases against eight out of nine arrested accused.
The court rejecting both bail and remand prayer against Baqi Billah, 17, son of Masum
Billah under Maluhar village of Nalchity, ordered to sent him to jail as he was underaged.
On the same day night (August 18, 2013) a police team led by A.Z.M. Masuduzzaman,
Officer in charge (OC) of Nalchity police station started for Dhaka with those eight HUJI
men and reached Dhaka the following morning.
Sources said, the nine suspected HUJI men were arrested during participating in a
training session at Kademul Islam Qoumi Madrasa Mosque in Uttar Kamdevpur of
Mollarhat union in Nalchity upazila under Jhalakati district on August 14 night.
Large number of Jihadi books, four sharp weapons, one grenade, seven mobile phone sets
were recovered by the police from the mosque.
Sub Inspector Mahmudul Hasan of Nalchity police station as complainant lodged two
cases with Nalchity police station on Thursday. One case (no.12) was lodged under
sections 19(e) of arms act of 1978 and section 4 of explosive act of 1908 and would be
investigated by Sub Inspector Abul Kalam.
Another case (no. 13) lodged under sections 1/2/3 on anti-terrorism act 2003(amended in
2013) and would the investigated by AZM Masuduzzaman, OC Nalchity police station.
AZM Masuduzzaman, Officer in charge (OC) Nalchity police station, said the remanded
eight arrestees were Mashiur Rahman Talukdar alias Miron, Moallem Qari Sirajul
Islam, Nurul Islam, Jubayer Haoladar, Abul Bashar Mridha, M A Azim, Md. Sohag
and Minhazul Abedin. Four of them hail from different areas of Jhalakathi, three from
Madaripur and one from Gopalganj district. –Our Correspondent, Jhalakathi
