21 BNP activists sent to jail in Comilla

A court here on Monday sent 21 local activists of the main opposition BNP to jail
rejecting their bail prayer in a case filed for subversive activities.
Comilla South unit BNP adviser Gulam Kibria Sarker was among the accused.
According to the case statement, the accused vandalised vehicles and blasted crude
bombs in different areas of Muradnagar upazila during the March 5 hartal called by the
party and Jamaat-e-Islami.
In this connection, Muradnagar thana police filed a case accusing 38 people under the
Explosive Act.
Later, the accused secured bail from the High Court for four weeks and the court directed
them to surrender before lower court within the time.
When the 21 BNP activists surrendered before the court at noon and sought bail, Senior
Judicial Magistrate M Shafiqul Islam sent them to jail rejecting the prayer. -UNB,
