Section 144 clamped in Natore

The local administrations have imposed section 144 in Boraigram upazila and
Gurudaspur upazila for today (Tuesday) as the local Jamaat-e-Islami and ruling party
Awami League called separate programmes at the same venue and time.
Police sources said Principal Delwar Hossain, general secretary of Natore unit Jammat,
arranged a motorcade in the upazilas (Natore-4) on Tuesday morning and he was
supposed to address rallies at 10 places as a possible candidate from the party for the
upcoming general election.
On the other hand, activists of local unit Chhatra League and Juba League, associate
bodies of the ruling party, called a motorcade for publicity of the present government’s
success in the same upazilas at the same time.
Apprehending trouble, upazila nirbahi officers of the two upazilas imposed the restriction
on all roads and highways under the upazilas, which will remain in force from 6.00am to
8.00 pm on Tuesday.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the areas to avoid untoward incident.
Denouncing the restriction, Jamaat called a press conference at its office in Harispur area
of the district today (Tuesday) around 11.00am. -UNB, Natore
