A court here on Tuesday sentenced an abductor to 14 years in jail for kidnapping a
woman. The court also fined him Tk 5,000, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
The convict is Saban Ali Sarder, son of Chand Ali Sarder of Hazrakathi village under
Keshabpur upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution, convict Saban Ali and his associate Abdul Kader abducted
the woman from Barondali village under Keshabpur upazila and raped her on the evening
on June 29, 2004.
A case was filed with Jessore Women and Children Repression Prevention Court on 19
July in the same year in this connection.
After examining hearing both the sides and examining witnesses and necessary
evidences, Judge SM Abdus Salam handed down the verdict in a crowded court room
