34 held in Jessore foiling illegal entry into India

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 34 people, including women,
while they were trying to enter India illegally through Putkhali border on Wednesday
night.
Lieutenant Colonel Taif-ul-Haque, commanding officer of 23 BGB Battalion, said
acting on a tip-off, a team of them conducted a drive in the area and arrested 34 people,
including five women, when they were trying to go to India without any legal documents.
The arrestees hail from different areas of Kushtia and Gopalganj district.
Later the 34 were handed over to Benapole port police station. -UNB, Benapole (Jessore)
Housewife drowned by husband in Satkhira
A housewife was drowned allegedly by her husband at Madra village in Tala upazila on
Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sandha Rani Mandal, 35, second wife of Nirapad Mandal,
a resident of the village.
Inamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Tala police station, said Nirapad pushed down his
wife Sandha into water of a pond next to his house.
Hearing scream of Sandha, locals rushed to the spot and caught Nirapad; but by that time
she died.
They recovered her body and informed police.
Police arrested Nirapad and sent the body to hospital morgue for autopsy.
The victim’s father, Pancharam Dhali, filed a case against Nirapad with Tala police
