Police in a drive on Sunday night arrested seven people along with a pistol, some bullets,
crude bombs and gunpowder in Kaliganj upazila.
The arrestees were identified as Anwar Hossain, 30, of Baligaon village in Kaliganj,
Amir Hossain, 23, of Munfepur village, Zillur Rahman, 20, of Darisom village, Jhinuk
Mia, 20, of Narsingdi district, Kutubuddin, 22, of Ghorashal upazila of Narsingdi,
Masud, 26, of Kartetul village in Ghorashal, and Abir Ali, 22, of Kandapara village of the
same upazila.
Police said acting on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in a flat on
the first floor of a two-storey building near Kaliganj police station at around 11.00pm and
recovered a foreign made pistol, three rounds of bullet, two crude bombs, 200 grams of
gunpowder and arrested the seven.
Police also recovered a bottle of Indian Phensidyl syrup and some hemp from their
