Police arrested the prime accused in the Satkhira Awami League leader Rabiul Islam
killing case from the capital’s Kafrul area on Wednesday.
The arrestee, identified as Abdul Majid Bishwas, is chairman of Shibpur union of
Satkhira Sadar upazila, and also vice-chairman of the upazila unit of BNP.
Being tipped off, a team of police arrested Majid from a house in the area around 8.00am,
said officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Shahjan Ali Khan.
After the incident of Rabiul’s murder, Majid went into hiding, added the OC.
Unidentified miscreants hacked to death Rabiul Islam, general secretary of Shibpur union
unit of AL and son of Rojob Ali of Tetultala village, on August 26.
Later, Rabiul’s brother filed a case accusing eight people including Majid.
