A Dhaka court on Thursday rejected the bail petition of Oishee Rahman, the key suspect, facing the charge of murdering her parents, Special Branch Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman for the third time.
Magistrate Md Erfan Ullah of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka turned down her bail plea saying that the case was at a primary stage of investigation and that she had already made judicial confession admitting her role in killing.
On Thursday, Oishee also submitted a petition to retract her confessional statement that she earlier given to the court on August 24 under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code after being grilled in police custody for five days.
On August 18 and 25, a juvenile court rejected the bail prayers of Oishee and their domestic help Khadiza Khatun Sumi.
On August 16, Oishee surrendered at Paltan Police Station after her parents’ decomposed bodies were recovered from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
Oishee’s lawyer Mahbub Hasan Rana to journalists, “Oishee claimed that she was forced to confess the killing of her parents by threatening to eliminate her during the police remand. Male police members had also beaten her up during the remand.”
