The visiting five-member European Union Election Exploratory Mission will sit with the main opposition BNP on Tuesday to discuss election issues to have an idea about pre-polls situation in the country. The meeting will be held around 6:30pm at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, BNP vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury told UNB. The EU delegation, led by Balthasar Benz of the European External Action Service, arrived in Dhaka on Saturday on a 17-day visit to discuss election issues with political parties and stakeholders concerned and assess the pre-polls situation. The delegation had meetings with leaders of the ruling Awami League on Monday evening while that of Jatiya Party on Sunday. During their stay here, the team will also hold meetings with a cross-section of people, including Election Commissioners, former advisers to the caretaker governments, civil society members and media people. – UNB
