Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)
members, in separate drivers, recovered 1428 chocolate bombs, 30 crude
bombs and huge gun powder from two buses in the city on Saturday
night.
Tipped off, a BGB patrol team halted a Rajshahi-bound bus from Naogaon
in front of BGB Rajshahi sector headquarters at about 6:00pm and
recovered 1428 pieces of chocolate bombs, 40 kgs of cumin seed, 2772
pieces electric crackers and some other contraband goods after
searching the bus, said commanding officer of BGB-37 Col. Nazrul
Islam.
However, there was no arrest in this connection as the smugglers fled
the scene sensing the BGB team’s presence.
Meanwhile, on secret information a team of Rab-5 led by deputy
commander Major Shafiqul Islam Shafiq conducted a drive in Baharampur
City Bypass area and recovered 4 kg gun powder and 30 crude bombs
searching a Rajshahi-bound bus of ‘AP Paribahan’ from Chapainawabganj
at about 7:45pm.
None was arrested in this connection. -UNB, Rajshahi
