Three to die for murder

Three people have been sentenced to death for killing a poultry
businessman in Barishal three years ago.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Barishal, SM
Nasir Reza, handed down the death penalty on Thursday.

The convicted – Anwar Hossain, 30, Bashir Uddin, 32, and Yunus, 32 –
all belong to Sadar Upazila’s Chabaria union. Anwar and Bashir,
however, are absconding since they were accused of the murder.

Three other accused were acquitted, as the charges against them could
not be proved.

Public Prosecutor Giasuddin Kabul said Sultan Badsha, a Lamchhori
resident, had gone missing from Barisal city’s Portroad where he had
gone to buy poultry feed on Jun 2, 2010.

The next day, Sultan’s father accused Anwar, Babu and Bashir of
kidnapping his son.

Sultan’s decomposed body was recovered from Kirtonkhola river on Jun 5.

Police pressed murder charges against six people on Jun 30 the same year.

The court gave the maximum punishment after hearing the deposition of
