A Dhaka court on Tuesday fixed Nov 27 for hearing in the sensational Biswajit murder case.Earlier, Jude ABM Nizamul Haque of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4completed recording the depositions of the prosecution and defence witnesses in the case.
Accused Md Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid and his brother-in-law Ruhul Amin testified as Defence witnesses. Ruhul Amin has claimed that Nahid is innocent in the incident as he was in his village home of Bhola on the day of killing.
Tailor Biswajit Das, was chopped to death allegedly by some Bangladesh Chhatra League activists near Bahadur Shah Park in the old city of Dhaka during the opposition’s countrywide road blockade programme on December 9 last year.
Eight accused, now in custody, were produced to the court Tuesday. Of them Rafiqul Islam Shakil, Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid, Emdadul Haque Emdad and GM Rashedduzzaman Shaon made confessional statements admitting their involvement in the killing under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
