A mobile court in Munshiganj on Sunday sentenced a man to one year’s imprisonment for keeping hemp in his house.
The convict was identified as Khokon Bonik, 48.
The mobile court sources said acting on secret information, a joint team of police and the Narcotics Control Department conducted a raid at the house of Bonik at Malpara in the district town at noon and arrested him along with three kilograms of hemp.
Executive magistrate Bijon Kumar Singh handed down the verdict after Bonik was produced before the court.
Later, the seized hemp was destroyed by officials of the Narcotics Control Department and police in presence of the magistrate. -UNB, Munshiganj
