Dhaka – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday requested Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to send another battalion of troops for its peacekeeping missions.
PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told UNB that Ban Ki-moon made a phone call to the Prime Minister in the evening and sought the troops.
The UN Secretary General also requested the Prime Minister to send necessary equipment with the new troops.
According sources at the Foreign Ministry, Ban Ki-moon made the request to Bangladesh to send more UN peacekeepers to South Sudan, a troubled spot. – UNB
