Joint forces in an overnight drive arrested seven activists of BNP and its political allies
Jamaat-Shibir from three upazilas of the district early Thursday on suspicion of their
involvement in sabotage acts.
District police control room sources said a team of the joint force, comprising police,
Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh, conducted an all-out drive in
Kalai, Khetlal and Sadar upazilas of the district from Wednesday midnight to early
Thursday and arrested the seven.
Among the arrestees were five Jamaat men and two BNP and Islami Chhatra Shibir
activists.
They were held on charges of involvement in vandalism and subversive activities during
the recent hartal and blockade programmes of the 18-party opposition alliance in the
