Blaming the ruling party men for the crude bomb blasts near the opposition leader’s Gulshan residence, opposition BNP on Thursday voiced grave concern over the security of its chairperson Khaleda Zia.In a statement, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “We’re deeply concerned and worried over the security and the life of the opposition leader as no effective measure has been taken to arrest the perpetrators.”
Criticising what he said the silence of the law enforcers to track down those responsible for the blasts, he said, “The bomb blasts, targeting Begum Zia’s residence at the very nose of the law enforcers, have undoubtedly stunned the nation.”
The BNP spokesperson also alleged that the current ‘fascist’ regime’s only target is to gag the voice of Khaleda Zia and hwart her strong democratic steps.
He demanded the government arrest and mete out exemplary punishment to the ‘Awami miscreants’ involved in the incident.
Amid the strong vigil by the law enforcers at her Gulshan residence, unidentified miscreants exploded four crude bombs near it on Thursday evening.
Police said the crude bombs were set off on the west side of the opposition leader’s house around 6:55pm.
However, there was no report of any injury in the blasts. No one was also arrested in this connection. – UNB
