A local leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir was injured in a bomb explosion while he was carrying it in Jamil Nagar area of the district on Friday morning.
The injured was identified as Jewel Sarker, 25, president of Bogra Azizul Haque College unit of Chhatra Shibir.Police and witnesses said the bomb went off when Jewel was carrying it to commit an act of sabotage in the area around 10:30am, leaving him injured.
His left wrist was blown off in the blast. Jewel was taken to Islami Hospital in Sutrapur area of the town.
Tipped off, a team of Sadar thana police and plainclothes police conducted a drive at the hospital around 11:30am and arrested seven people, including Jewel.
Later, Jewel was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
The other six arrestees are Managing Director of the hospital Selim Reza, its two doctors, two nurses and one employee. – UNB
