Steps taken for violence-free polls: Asaduzzaman

Additional security measures have been taken in every polling center to avert violence during the fourth phase upazila polls, said State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman on Saturday.

“We’ve taken additional security measures in every polling center to avert violence,” he said over phone.
Asaduzzaman said that the Election Commission has taken all the necessary preparations to hold the polls fairly and the Home Ministry will extend all sorts of cooperation in this regard.
Asked about violence and capturing polling centres during the third phase election, the junior minister said stern actions will be taken against those who will try to capture polling centers and cast fake votes.
“We’ve directed the law enforcing agencies in this regard. The law enforcers will remain on alert so that people can cast their votes without any hassle,” he added.
The fourth phase polls will be held in 91 upazilas of 43 districts across the country. -UNB
