DB police have caught a guy named Sheikh Mozaffor Bin Mohsin (29) in connecgtion with the murder of Nurul Islam Faruki (60). Faruki was an anchor of religious programs in various private TV channels. Police caught Mozaffor from the premises of a mosque at Mohammadpur on Saturday.Late Faruki was the khatib of Supreme Court Mosque, presidium member of Bangladesh Islamic Front and leader of Ahle Sunnah. He was murdered at his own residence by some muggers on August 27.
Joint Commissioner of DB police Monirul Islam said that, Mozaffor is a leader of religious extremist group Ansarullah Bangla team. Mozaffor had threatened Faruki several times in his speech.
In initial interrogation Mozaffor has not said anything directly, but he said his followers may have killed Faruki. On Sunday he was sent to court. – GreenWatch Dhaka Desk
