85 held from trawler for illegal voyage sent to Ctg jail

A Chittagong court on Wednesday sent 85 people, including Myanmar nationals, who were arrested from a trawler in the Bay of Bengal while heading towards Malaysia on Monday, to jail.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Sayed passed the order when they were produced before the court. Among them, 19 were women and 12 children.Earlier, two cases were filed against 98 people with Patenga Police Station on Wednesday in connection with the illegal voyage for Malaysia. Bangladesh Navy filed one case against them.
Bangladesh Navy on Monday seized a Myanmar flag carrying trawler in the deep sea with at least 625 people on board, including many Myanmar nationals while heading towards Malaysia illegally.
Of them, 592 were handed over to the Patenga Police Station and later 494 Bangladeshi nationals were released. – UNB
