ACC chief finds most teachers absent in Ctg schools

Dhaka, Jan 27 – Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud on Sunday
(Sunday) made a sudden visit to six primary and high schools in the port city Chattogram and found most of the teachers were absent.
After the visit in a view exchanging meeting with the filed level officers at Chattogram circuit house, he said, ‘Which scenario I found today at school it is mater of sadness. No one will be spared in failing to ensure education.’
‘I have found students in some schools but not found the teachers. Negligence to teach the students is a crime under the CrPc section 166,’ he said.
He urged the teachers considering the future of the children to teach them. ‘If the teacher will remain present in the class the students will learn at least behaviour. People’s aspiration is our children will lead in future, so we all have to look into it.’
He said he found satisfactory conditions in some schools and some schools condition was not satisfactory.
The ACC target the primary and secondary level as these two sections are considered as the fundamental or basic level of education. He also urged the guardians’ committee in the schools to more active to look over the activities in the school.
He said the education and the health sectors are related to each other so they have targeted both sectors. ‘If the children are knowledgeable but sick, there would be no benefit. So I am requesting the doctors to be attentive in serving the people. My request to you (doctors) that you have to be present in the station. Stay in the village to give service to the people.
He reached at Kattoli Nurul Haque Chowdhury Primary School at 9:15 and found only one teacher out of nine teachers in the school while some students were found roaming at the school filed. The guardians seeing the ACC chairman in informed him about their dissatisfaction over the situation that the teacher remained absent in the school. In responding the guardians the ACC chairman said that education will be ensured in the class at any cost. If required, the ACC will exercise the CrPc 166. ‘Anyone will be spared who try to harm to our future generation.’
Then the ACC chairman visited more five schools including the Bhatiary Government Primary School, Shitalpur High School. 
In the view exchanging meeting Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Abdul Manan in the chair, Chattogram deputy commissioner Elia Hossain, CWASA Managing Director AKM Fazullah, a representative from Power, services were sectors present in the meeting. – Staff Reporter
