Aircraft hijack bid an isolated incident: Police IG

Rangamati, Feb 26 (UNB) – Terming the bid to hijack a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft an isolated incident, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary on Tuesday claimed that the country’s law-and-order situation is better than any time in the past.

He came up with the remarks after inaugurating newly constructed arsenal, three thana bhabans and one police outpost at Sukhi Nilganj Police Lines in the district.

The IGP said all kinds of facilities have been ensured to increase the capabilities of police. “The use of illegal firearms has been increasing in the hills day by day. Joint plans with other forces have been taken to take action against illegal firearms and illegal drugs while drives against illegal arms holders are already underway and will intensify in the future,” he said.

Chattagram Range Deputy Inspector General Khandker Golam Faruque, Rangamati Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Alamgir Kabir and other senior officers were present.

Meanwhile, the IGP also inaugurated several establishments at Rangamati Polwel Nature Park.
