Nine BNP leaders expelled

Dhaka, Feb 26 (UNB) – Nine grassroots BNP leaders have been expelled from the party on charge of violating its discipline.

They are Panchagarh Sadar upazila BNP president Abu Daud Prodhan, its Pirojpur’s Kawkhali upazila joint secretary Kafi Chowdhury, women affairs secretary Fatema Yesmin Popy, South Sunamganj upazila president Farroque Ahmed, Sunamganj district BNP vice president Anisul Haque, Sunamganj district Swechchasebak Dal joint secretary Kamal Parvez, Sunamganj district Mohila Dal convener Madina Akhter, Bishwambarpur upazila women affairs secretary Ayesha Akhtar and same upazila unit BNP member Harun Rashid Dulal.

A press release signed by BNP assistant office secretary Belal Ahmed on Tuesday said the nine BNP leaders were expelled from the party also for their involvement in the activities that go against the party interest.

It also said nine leaders were expelled from BNP’s all-level posts, including its primary membership.

Party insiders said the punitive action against the BNP leaders was taken following their dispute with the central leaders over participating in the upazila elections.
