AL-JSD clash in Barisal: 3 cased filed

Three cases and counter cases were  lodged  on Wednesday against 292
accused in connection of clash between activists of AL lawmaker and
JSD leader upazila chairman in Uzirpur upazila town on Tuesday .
The accused included upazila chairman, BNP, JSD leaders and activists
and son of lawmaker.
On other hand chairmen of different union parishads of the upazila
holding a meeting on Wednesday announced the AL-lawmaker and his son
as persona non- grate in the upazila for their corruptions, immoral
activities and role against the public interest of the upazila.
They also demanding withdrawal of cases against the UZ chairman and
innocent local people cautioned to start hard movement in case of
ignoring their demands.
Sub Inspector Humaun Kabir, acting officer in charge of Uzirpur police
station and AKM Ehsanullah, acknowledging the facts said the situation
is under control.
Police sources denying giving details said Sub Inspector Mohiuddin as
complainant lodged a case against 15 accused by named and 200 others
unnamed for injuring the complainant and his colleague SI Swapan,
blocking roads, creating obstacles against performing public duties
etc.
Only JSD and BNP activist supporters of UZ chairman was accused and
cadres of AL lawmaker were acquitted from the case, local sources
said.
Uzirpur upazila chairman, JSD leader Abul Kalam Azad as complainant
lodged a case against AL lawmaker’s son Dr. Reazul Islam Sumon, his
cadre Aroop and 25 others for attempt to murdering him by opening
fire, injuring him by chasing and attacking.
Nasir Khan, president Guthia union Schchhwasebok League and cadre of
the AL lawmaker lodged a counter case against 50 accused including UZ
chairman Badal and 10 others by name for attempting murder to kill
attacking the AL lawmaker, his son and their supporters and damaging
vehicle.
The SP and acting OC said police will investigate the case freely and
fairly and take action after that.
Mentionable SM Zamal and Abdul Majid Shikdar Bachchu , president and
secretary of upazila AL earlier holding press conference against the
corruption and irregularities of AL lawmaker.
Followers of AL lawmaker and Uzirpur Upazila chairman were locked in a
clash in the upazila on Tuesday afternoon following a dispute over
project approval and invitation in programme, leaving at least 20
people, including journalists, police injured.
During the clash, people damaged the car of the lawmaker Nurul Islam
Moni and his son, Dr Riazul Islam Sumon, opened fire on the public.
Agitated people confined the MP and his son to the upazila parishad
for five hours. Later, they came out of the parishad in the evening
with the help of police.
