A Dhaka court yesterday (Sunday) placed alleged Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Women Wing chief on six days remand and three other suspected members of the banned militant outfit Islamic group on ten days remand in two cases.
Members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested them from Dhaka city’s Sadarghat area on Saturday night. On Sunday, Police Inspector Md Anwar Hossain produced the accused to a Dhaka court seeking 20 days’ remand each in two cases.Magistrate Maruf Hossain of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka granted six days remand for the JMBWomen Wing chief Fatema Begum and ten days remand for other three accused in two cases after hearing. Other three accused persons are Abdullah Kazi, Md Ishrat Alai Sheikh and Md Shawkot Sarder. Fatema is also the wife of Md Masum alias Sajid, who was arrested by West Bengal Police of India in connection with the Burdwan blast case.
The remand petition says that the law enforcers also recovered huge explosives and bomb-making materials and jihadi (religious uprising) books from the arrestees’ possession. Meanwhile, Fatema got training on shooting, bomb making and bomb attack in India, while she was there with her husband Sajid. However, she managed to flee Bangladesh from India after the arrest of her husband there, police complained. – Court Correspondent
