Anarchy over long march will be foiled: Muhith

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Friday categorically said that any attempt for creating anarchy on Saturday apparently in the name ‘long march’ by Hefajat-e-Islam would surely be foiled.“Tomorrow (Saturday) there may be an attempt for creating anarchy in the city, but I think that would not take place… any attempt for creating anarchy would surely be foiled,” he said.
Muhith was addressing a discussion meeting on Friday at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) marking the ‘National Film Day 2013’ observed.
Chaired by FDC managing director Pijush Bandopadhyay, Director General of Bangladesh Betar Kazi Akhter Uddin Ahmed and FBCCI vice president Helaluddin Ahmed spoke on the occasion as special guests.
The government has given conditional permission to Hefajat-e-Islam to hold a peaceful rally at Motijheel Shapla Chattar in the city on Saturday morning. But tensions are growing as the pro-government organisations announced 24-hour hartal programme from 6 pm on Friday to resist the long march.
Mentioning hat the present situation bears some sort of ominous sign for the economy, the Finance Minister hoped that since the people are also aware of the predicament, they would not let any anarchy to happen.
About the demand of the FDC employees for bringing their jobs under the revenue sector, Muhith said that it is an administrative matter and they should place their demand to the appropriate authority. UNB
