Another land grabbing case filed against Dr Zafrullah 

Savar, Oct 19 – Another case has been filed against Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury on charges of occupying a land and demanding extortion. Hasan Imam filed the case accusing Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, 85, registrar of Gono University Delwar Hossain, 57, Gonoshasthya Kendra director Saiful Islam Sishir, 55, and Aulad Hossain, 48, with Ashulia Police Station on Friday, said its officer-in-charge Rizaul Haque Dipu.
“Not influenced by the pressure from the government, police are taking up the cases against him after getting complaints from the victims,” said the OC.
Earlier on Monday night, the one Mohammad Ali, a resident of Harirampur Upazila in Manikganj, filed a case accusing Zafrullah and three other named and three to four unnamed persons with the same police station allegedly for attempting to grab a piece of land and demanding extortion.
The accused have long been trying to occupy a 4.24-acre land, owned by Mohammad Ali, at Pathalia union. They threatened and put pressure on Mohammad Ali in a bid to grab the land, and demanded Tk 1 crore from him as extortion, he said. – UNB
