A Dhaka court yesterday (Thursday) placed Ansarullah Bangla Team media wing chief, Morshed Alam alias Masum on a five-day remand after hearing on a ten-day remand plea.
Magistrate M Hasibul Haque of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court passed the order. Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) police inspector Nibaran Chandra Barman produced Masum to the court with a ten-day remand plea.During the wee hours of Wednesday DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) nabbed Masum from Kallyanpur area of the capital. Police recovered a laptop, a cell phone of Nokia N-75, a printer, a DVD, several video CDs and books about militancy from the possession of Masum.
Monirul Islam, Joint Commissioner of DMP, DB earlier informed that Masum was employed at a private company. He obtained post graduation degree in computer engineering from a private university of the city in 2011.
It may be noted that the existence of Ansarullah Bangla Team, an extremist group, came to light in August last year after the arrest of chief of the team Jasim Uddin Rahmani with his 31 associates from Borguna. Later, police conducted raid at his residence of Mohammadpur area in the city and recovered computer, laptop and CD. On September 16, police submitted the charge sheet of the case against Jasim and 10 others of the organization under the Anti-terrorism Act. – Court Correspondent
