Arms, explosives seized in Bogra

Police seized huge arms and explosives from a students’ hostel at Malgram Adarsha
College para in the district town and arrested two people in this connection on Saturday a
day after the arrest of three suspected militants of new militant outfit BEM in the town.
According to the statement of Rubel Hossain, one of the three suspected militants,
police launched drive in the hostel around 4:30 am and recovered one revolver, huge
bomb making materials, some masks, several sharp weapon, eight crude bombs, some
documents of BEM and a large number of books on the techniques of exploding bombs.
Police arrested Rezaul, 45, the owner of the hostel, and his son Yusuf, 25 in this
connection.
Police super Mojammel Haq said the militants had been operating a militancy training
centre in the hostel. It is suspected that they were giving training on how to explode
bombs and use arms, he said.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested three operatives of the military wing of
BEM from a house at Thanthania in the district town on Thursday afternoon.
The arrested were identified as Firoz Alam, 36, Barha Sheikh alias Babu, 21, and Nahid,
22.
During the drive, the crime busters seized an SMG, an LMG, foreign pistols, 80 bullets,
magazines and documents of the outfit from their flat.
During interrogation, the arrested confessed that militant outfit JMB is now operating
under new platform BEM. However, they did not elaborate on the abbreviation of BEM.
Assistant police super Gaziur Rahman said three separate cases were filed against the
three suspected militants under arms act, anti-terrorism act and for obstructing police in
