Arms snatched from Police Sub-Inspector in N’ganj

Narayanganj, Jan 26 – Some youths attacked an on-duty policeman and snatched his revolver at Cholapara village in Rupganj Upazila on Saturday night.
Witnesses said two groups of villagers locked into a fight following a football match among themselves in the evening.
Informed by locals, a team of police from Bhulta Police Station, led by sub-inspector Naziuzzaman, appeared at the spot and was trying to control the situation, they said.
But, suddenly a group of youths swooped on the law enforcers and hacked the SI, they added.
Abdullah Al Mamun, additional superintendent of Narayanganj police, said the on-duty policeman was hacked and assaulted by the miscreants who also took away his service revolver.
Meanwhile, additional policemen have been deployed in and around the village to fend off further trouble, said the police officer adding that drives were underway to arrest the culprits and recover the arms. – UNB
