Arrested by plainclothes Police, released by Rab

Samedur Rahman alias Mithu Biswas, the younger brother of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, was released early Thursday, hours after he was picked up by people masquerading as detectives.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) freed Mithu, also a member of Pabna Rifle Club, after interrogation.Shimul’s elder brother Babul Biswas said a group of armed plainclothes men picked Mithu up from in front of their Kuthipara residence in the district town around 9:30pm on Wednesday.
Asked about their identity, they introduced themselves as members of Detective Branch of police, he said, adding that district DB officer-in-charge Akaram Hossain denied arresting Mithu when they contacted him later.
Babul said Mithu returned home around 5:30am on Thursday when he told them that he was taken to the Rab Pabna camp. He was released after interrogation there.
Contacted, Rab-12 camp commander Major Azmal Hossain said a special team of the elite force picked Mithu up for interrogation and he was handed over to family after interrogation. – UNB
