Earlier in the day, Inspector General of Police (GP) AKM Shahidul Hoque said, “We’ve found evidence that Aslam was involved in seditious acts. The government has cleared the way to file a sedition case against him and the case will be filed by today.
He came up with the remarks while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a training course at Rajarbagh Police Lines.
During their investigation and questioning the BNP leader, the police chief said they have found the allegation of hatching an anti-state plot by Aslam correct.
He said Aslam Chowdhury tried to create anarchy and make the government unpopular through an anti-sate plot.
As part of the plot, Shahidul Hoque said the BNP leader went to India repeatedly and met Israel’s Likud Party leader Mendi N Safadi. “Aslam was hatching the conspiracy in exchange for money.”
On May 15, plainclothes police arrested BNP joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury from the capital city for his alleged involvement in an anti-state plot.
According to media reports, the BNP leader was allegedly involved in a plot to topple the Awami League-led government by joining hands with Israeli secret service Mossad in New Delhi. Aslam met Israeli Likud Party leader Mendi N Safadi during his recent India visit.
But before his arrest, Aslam denied any conspiracy against the government although he admitted to meeting Safadi in a tea party in India.
