Tonu murder: CID quizzes 3 army men

Dhaka-Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday interrogated three army members who collected some evidence from the spot from where the body of slain Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu was recovered.Sources at the CID Comilla office said the three army men were quizzed inside Comilla Cantonment at noon.
The interrogation team was headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar Roy while the investigation officer of the case CID Inspector Gazi Mohammad Ibrahim and Inspector Md Shahnewaz were present.
The three army men — one sergeant and two corporals — collected the evidence from the crime scene and later handed those over to sub-inspector Saiful Islam of Kotwali Model Police Station.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, 19, a second year history student of Comilla Victoria College and a member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead at Comilla Mynamati Cantonment on March 20 after she went out of her residence for private tuition.
The victim’s father filed a case against some unidentified people with Kotwali Model Police Station. The case was transferred to the CID on March 28.
