Attack on Cox’s Bazar Ansar camp: Mastermind held

Dhaka – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Nurul Alam, the mastermind of the attack on an Ansar camp in Teknaf upazila that killed an Ansar member, from Kutupalang Rohingya camp of Ukhiya upazila on Tuesday.Tipped off, a team of Rab-7 launched a drive at Kutupalang Rohingya camp around 7:30pm and arrested Nurul, a Rohingya, said company commander of Rab-7 Lt Commander Ashequr Rahman.Nurul was the mastermind of the attack on Nayapara Ansar camp inside Kutupalang Rohingya camp carried out on May 13 last year that killed commander Ali Hossain.Some 13 firearms and 600 bullets were also looted during the attack, said the Rab official.Locals said Nurul fled to India after the Nayapara Ansar camp attack and returned to Bangladesh recently.Earlier on January 9 last, the elite force in a drive arrested three Rohingya people along with 13 firearms, including five looted from the Ansar camp, and 95 bullets from deep forest in Ghungdhum border area of Myanmar.Alamgir Hossain, an Ansar member of the barrack inside the Rohingya camp, filed a case against 35 unidentified people with Teknaf police station.
