DhAKA: Secretary General of Hefajat-e-Islam Junaid Babunagari has been kept on life support in capital’s BIRDEM Hospital.Doctors shifted him to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Hospital when his condition deteriorated after operation on Tuesday. On Saturday, he was taken to the hospital.
Dr Razu said, “Babunagari has been put in ICU and his condition is becoming better gradually than Tuesday.”
On May 6, Babunagari was arrested from Lalbagh in cases filed over May 5 violence in the capital. He has been under successive police remand since his arrest. Last week he was reported to have made a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Hefazat leaders however claimed that he had to sign a paper under duress.
