Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni categorically said that the government would purchase weapons worth Tk 8,000 crore from Russia.
An agreement in this regard will be signed during Russia visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, she mentioned.
The minister came up with the disclosure in a press conference at her ministry on Sunday afternoon.
Dr Dipu Moni said, “On 3-day official visit, Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Russia from January 14.”
She added, “During the visit 6 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and 2 agreements will be inked.”
The MoUs on agriculture, health, education, culture, law and justice and anti-terrorism will be signed while the agreements will be signed for setting up a nuclear power plant at Rooppur and purchasing weapons, foreign ministry sources said.banglanews24.com
