BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah on Monday observed the Prime Minister would have to leave the country due to the misdeeds of Chhatra League, the student organisation of the ruling Awami League.
Addressing a discussion meeting at the National Press Club, he alleged that the government is utilising police force against the people just cling to power and spending money form the government exchequer.
The BNP leader regretted that the behaviour of police force exceeded the barbaric action of Pakistani occupation forces. He said the movement cannot be stopped by using police force.Jatiyatabadi Tarun Projonma Dal organised the function demanding withdrawal of “false cases” filed against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.
Barrister Rafiqul Islam said the country is passing through crisis of democracy and corruption. He said the corruption cannot be stopped in the absence of real democracy.
Referring to the election manipulation in upazila parisahd polls, he said the upazila polls proved that no election could be held in a free and fair manner under Sheikh Hasina.
The BNP leader accused the government of providing power, corridor and Teesta water to India and called upon the people to wage movement against it.
Presided over by Engr Mukhles Talukder, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Advocate Joynal Abedin, Nazimuddin Alam, Aminul Haque and Shamimur Rahman.
Meanwhile, addressing a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club, BNP chairperson’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu said the governement is working aiming at establishing one-party BAKSAL government.
He called upon the government to immediately release Amardesh editor Mahmudur Rahman and withdraw the ban on publication of the newspaper.
Association of Engineers Bangladesh (AEB) organised the programme with ANH Akhter Hossain in the chair.
