Dhaka – A group of four Bangladeshi children have returned home after attending the Nuclear Kids Festival 2017, held in Russia and Hungary. Widely known as NucKids, the festival was organized by ROSATOM, Russia’s State Nuclear Energy Corporation.Over 75 boys and girls from 13 countries including Bangladesh, Belarus, Hungary, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Croatia, Turkey, China, India, USA, Kazakhstan and host Russia took part in the approximately 6 weeks long festival this year.
Participating Bangladeshi kids were Fatin Sadab of Birshreshta Noor Mohammad Public College, Dhaka, Syed Kaysan Faraj of Bangladesh International School and College, Dhaka, Fariha Islam Tifla of Chhatak Bohumukhi Model High School, Sunamganj and Md. Khadikul Islam Pathan of Hossainpur Model Pilot School and College, Kishoreganj.
The festival was designed to foster friendship among the children of employees, working in different nuclear establishments in Russia and in other countries, supported by Rosatom, create a positive attitude towards nuclear energy among the new generation, help flourish the cultural talents in the children.
At the initial part the children under the supervision of renowned Russian music, dance and drama directors were prepared for stage performances in different cities in front of the audience. This year children performed in Russian cities like St. Petersburg, Moscow, Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod and in Hungarian cities of Paks and Kaloch. In Moscow, they performed at the gala events in the historical Helikon Opera Theatre on August 17 and 18. Besides the children were taken to various historical and interesting places and establishments. The program was also included many educational and entertainment activities.
ROSATOM has been organizing the NucKids festival since 2009 as their regular annual event. Bangladeshi children took part in the program for the 3 rd time this year.
Rosatom is in process of implementing the Bangladesh’s first ever nuclear power plant at Rooppur of Ishwardi. The project will have two most modern VVER 1200 power units of Generation 3+ technology. – Triune Group press release
