Bd opposition BNP unlikely to join election, says Ershad

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Thursday said the chaotic incident that took place in front of BNP’s office indicates that it may not join the 11th parliamentary elections.

“It’ll be good if BNP comes to the polls. Jatiya Party will contest the 300 seats if BNP finally doesn’t join the election,” he said.The Jatiya Party chief came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at his Banani office.

He said they still did not discuss joining the election in alliance. “If BNP joins the election, we’ll go to the polls in alliance. Hope, we’ll get a decent number of seats if we contest the election in alliance.”Ershad said their party’s parliamentary board meeting will take the final decision about it on November 18.

He said their party leaders and activists are delighted ahead of the election as about 2,500 nomination forms of the party were sold over the last four days. “It’s a very positive sign for Jatiya Party.”The Jatiya Party chairman said their party will have good results in the election if the party leaders and activists work together.
