A truck driver was killed as his vehicle overturned while outrunning pickets after a chase during the 24-hour countrywide blockade of the 18-party alliance on the Feni-Begumganj Road in Senbagh upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Nizam, 38, a resident of Feni district.Witnesses said supporters of the road-rail-waterway blockade enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance chased the truck in Bhuiyan Dighi area of the upazila while picketing at about 8:30pm.Getting panicked, its driver speeded away in a bid to get away from the blockaders.However, his vehicle rammed into a roadside tree and overturned, leaving him and his helper Babul 25, severely injured.
Nizam died on the way while they were being rushed to Senbagh Upazila Health Complex. -UNB, Noakhali
