Blogger Asif lands in jail again

A Dhaka court sent blogger Asif Mohiuddin back to jail on Monday rejecting his bail petition in a case filed against him for allegedly making derogatory write-ups about Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).Judge-in-Charge of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Special Judge’s Court Dr Md Akhteruzzaman passed the order Monday when Asif, former student of a private university, surrendered to his court and pleaded for permanent  bail, two days after his earlier interim bail period expired.
On June 27, Asif was granted one month’s interim bail on health ground in the case filed under Section 57(2) of the Information Communication Technology Act 2006.
The case record says that Asif violated the condition of the bail as he did not appear before the court on July 27 on the expiry of his bail period. Besides, he did not show necessary documents about his medical treatment, as mentioned in is petition.
Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested four bloggers, including Asif Mohiuddin during drives in the capital on April 1 and 3. Later Asif secured bail on June 27. Three other bloggers are Rasel Parvez, Subrata Adhikary Shuvo and Moshiur Rahman Biplob, and they are on bail.
Asif Mohiuddin after being in jail custody for three months was granted bail on June 27.  His bail term ended on July 27. -Court Correspondent
