Bnp accuses govt of conspiracy to kill Rizvi by torture

BNP on Monday alleged that the government is conspiring to kill its joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi through torture on police remand.
In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said, “BNP’s joint secretary general and noted politician Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has not been sent to jail yet since his arrest on January 30 midnight.”“Rizvi has been enduring unbearable mental torture and unending repression in different styles for the last 23 days, as a plot is there to kill him granting consecutive remands by courts against him after implicating him in various false and fabricated cases,” he added.
Mentioning that Rizvi already a sick man, Salahuddin said he has now become seriously ill due the mental torture in the name of police remand.
He warned that the government in no way can avoid responsibility if any accident happens following his deteriorating health condition.
The BNP leader demanded the government ensure Rizvi’s proper treatment and stop torture on him on remand.
Salauddin also urged the government to release Rizvi after withdrawing all the ‘motivated, false and fabricated’ cases filed against him.
Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court placed Rizvi on a three-day fresh remand in an arson case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station.
