The 18-party opposition alliance has called off its general strike in Dhaka to facilitate rescue work in Savar where a multi-storied building collapsed on Wednesday morning.Party’s Standing Committee Member MK Anwar made the announcement at a press conference in the city.
At least 80 people were killed as the nine-storey Rana Plaza caved in.
The strike has been withdrawn barely three-and-a-half hours before the 36-hour shutdown was about to end.
